What is [a] "furry"?

So ya wanna know what a furry is, eh? Well, I'll give my own definition here someday, but here's a bunch of links to get you started. I found these by typing "What is a furry?" into a search engine (I forget which one - maybe all of them?), so if they ever get out of date, go try that. Actually, AltaVista had the best hit return.

One of the things I love about the fandom is the enormous wealth of artistic talent that can be found through it. One most excellent site for furry art is FurNation. Click on the 'list hosted websites' button, and you'll find tremendous quantities of artists. Some of them are Really Excellent, and can do amazing things with various media, such as pencil, colored pencil, acrylic, oil, ink, and even computer aided and/or generated graphics, including renderers! Be forewarned, though .. it is fairly graphic intensive, and it can be mighty slow sometimes, even for high-speed users (256 kilobit and up).

One important note to mention -- the restraint artists exercise when it comes to risque or pornographic material varies greatly, from entirely wholesome works like you might expect in a Disney film, to entirely pornographic works that, in the human counterpart, is normally squirreled away in the back rooms of so-called "adult book stores." There is a squeaky clean furry art archive that you can be fairly sure won't have anything potentially bothersome in it.

I'll post some other furry art sites up here as I rediscover them. :)
